GammaTile Therapy

Patient Navigator Program

Your patient-to-patient resource

We want you to know that you are not alone. A brain tumor diagnosis can be overwhelming—the research, the treatment decisions, and the emotions. We created the GammaTile Patient Navigator Program so you always have someone to turn to, someone experienced who has been on the same path as you. A GammaTile Patient Navigator has received GammaTile Therapy and wants to help others on their journeys. Whether you or a loved one is considering GammaTile Therapy or have already received GammaTile, it may be helpful to speak with one of our Patient Navigators.

Your Navigator is there for you every step of the way

Helping guide you on your pathway to healing

Answering questions about their experience and providing reassurance

Offering other resources and support

Take comfort in knowing there are many others who have been on the same path and chosen GammaTile Therapy to get a head STaRT in the fight against their brain tumors.

Meet Shannan, a low-grade glioma survivor

“After multiple surgeries, oral chemo and external beam radiation, I was ready to try something new, and I'm glad I received GammaTile Therapy. I feel great and bounced back quickly—my best recovery.”

GT Medical Technologies provides this connection to patients and caregivers, so that through their stories and personal contact, you can learn from those who have experience with GammaTile Therapy. These patients and caregivers volunteer their time to share their perspective on the Surgically Targeted Radiation Therapy (STaRT) procedure, treatment, and postprocedure experience. Each volunteer can only speak to their individual experience and cannot offer medical advice, as they are not healthcare providers. These patients and caregivers are not GT Medical Technologies employees and have not received any compensation for their stories or time spent in this program.
This site/program listing should not be used as a substitute for talking with your doctor. Always talk with your doctor to determine the right therapy for you.

My quality of life has been very good due to GammaTile Therapy. I’m just really thankful that GammaTile Therapy was available.

GammaTile Therapy is intended to deliver radiation therapy in patients with newly diagnosed malignant brain tumors and recurrent brain tumors. The potential for, and symptoms of, adverse events related to radiation exposure vary depending on the radiosensitivity of the exposed tissue, the amount of radiation delivered, and the placement of GammaTile(s). Serious side effects related to GammaTile Therapy are rare, and may include radiation brain changes including necrosis. GammaTile Therapy should not be used for patients with known history of hypersensitivity to bovine-derived materials. Possible complications can occur with any neurosurgical procedure, including cerebrospinal fluid leaks, infection, delayed hemorrhage, and adhesion formation.
